*************************************************************************
Supplies:
simple objects of your choice that are color(s) you wish to paint….Piece of fruit, small box, a bowl…
Paints: Acrylic, watercolor, *tempera, or oil….Whichever media you like to use. ****if you are new to painting Acrylics or watercolor maybe a good choice.
*kids’ tempera can be a simple and inexpensive way to start
Paint colors:
-Blue—Ultramarine, Cobalt or in tempera look for a true blue—not turquoise
-Reds --Crimson, Cadmium red medium Tempera-a true red
-Yellow –Cadmium Yellow medium, lemon yellow Tempera—a nice bright yellow---NOT neon!!
-White not necessary if you are using watercolor paints.. you can lighten a color by adding more water.
-Purple especially if you are using Acrylic paints, if using other paints no need to buy it right now (if you bought a set of paints you may already have a good purple. Purple is invaluable!!! And you will find out why!
Black… only a small tube or jar….you will probably not use this much at all… (You do not need black at all) and you will find out why!
Paint brushes, look for brushes suitable for the type of paint you are using…do not get super expensive ones unless you know you will keep on painting.
Heavy paper or canvas (you can search for canvassette -it is a coated canvas, not stretched and good for practice…)
Palette: a white Styrofoam meat/fruit tray or any waterproof flat surface…if you are using tempera styrofoam egg cartons work also. White is good so you can see what you are mixing and it isn’t influenced by a green, pink or yellow palette, you could also use Freezer paper
Water bowl if using water media.
A pencil and eraser may be handy…for notes and sketching your simple object.
