Watercolor Magic with Marie Gamon

Watercolor Magic

Explore the magic of watercolor where the paint, the water and paper join your efforts to produce fun, lively expressions of art.

With each class we will explore techniques that will allow you to take advantage of what your paper, paint, and water do as well as develop your skills in handling this simple and complex medium.

This will be an on-line virtual class taking place on ZOOM.  Students will receive information on how to log on once their registration is complete.

 3 sessions, 1 hour each

Sept. 8, 15, 29 (There will be NO class on Sept. 22)

7pm-8pm

$40

Please make your check payable to: Hershey Area Art Association (HAAA) and mail to:

 Supplies:

Watercolor paints….tubes or a cakes…Make sure the colors of the cakes are true (some real cheap sets have dusty looking colors).  If you are just trying this out, I’d go with the cake-type as they are cheaper and you get a variety of colors for one price.

Brushes:  Synthetic such as taklon and at least two sizes  small for details, and large flat for covering lots of paper.   If you get a pack of brushes make sure they are for watercolor.

Paper:  Watercolor paper such as Strathmore 140 lb paper, cold press….There are inexpensive tablets made of recycled paper….If you are brand new try this.

Palettes….very important if you have tubes of color.   Usually pan colors come in a case with mixing area…..Also good to have handy for mixing is plastic lids or stryofoam trays.  White is best so you can see the paint color.

A board to tape your paper to.  If you  tape your paper down, after applying water and paint, it will dry flat.  Otherwise the paper will buckle.

A piece of 1/8 – ¼ inch Masonite will do….about 18x24  or larger….a little smaller is okay, too.  You will be working on several small paintings at a time.

Tape- blue painters tape works well.

Pencil/ eraser (in case we do a little drawing)
