THIS CLASS IS FOR EXPERIENCED STUDENTS

Drawing is the fundamental skill for all realistic art and the basis for successful painting and sculpture. The class will review aspects of drawing in an easy to understand method that includes:

How to draw accurately using simple measurements and comparison

Importance of value, shadows, highlights, and push-pull technique

Elements of drawing such as line, line quality, line contour, and cross contour lines

Perspective and foreshortening

Drawing from still life, photos and possibly a live model

Composition and how to lead the viewer through the picture with directional line, size, contrast, and position hierarchy.

Drawing techniques; hatching, crosshatching, blending, rendering, random lines, stippling, and scratchboard.
