(Vice) Prez Sez, August 2018

Our President, Cindy, is busy in Florida so the Prez Sez for August fell to the Vice President. I will try to maintain Cindy’s friendly, informative style.

Over the past several weeks we have had a ridiculous variety of weather. Heat and humidity followed by torrential rains, and finally several days of beautiful summer weather. It’s difficult to find a positive art related correlation from our schizophrenic weather. Edvard Munch reminds us that “nature is not only all that is visible to the eye... it also includes the inner pictures of the soul.” We all know what his soul told him to do about nature - scream to the heavens! Regardless of the weather, HAAA shows and classes continue. Before I list the information about upcoming events, allow me to tell you about the plans for the September Membership Appreciation meeting on September 11.

It’s time to celebrate our members and their commitment to the mission of HAAA. The Board of Directors has planned an evening of “Nuts and Bolts”. Well, not literally, but a meeting to help our members understand what goes on behind the scenes. HAAA wants to continue to provide artists with opportunities to improve their art, share their art with our community through shows and exhibitions while advancing HAAA’s reputation as the area’s foremost art community.

The September 11 Meeting agenda includes:
- Some HAAA history from those who were there when it all began
- An interesting presentation on the influence of art on culture and politics - HAAA jeopardy, with prizes
- Meet the HAAA Board of Directors, up close and personal
- Opportunity for you to offer ideas for the future of HAAA
- Special member appreciation refreshments

Please plan on attending the September meeting. The HAAA Board of Directors works tirelessly on providing artists with opportunities to display, improve, sell and promote their work. To continue the momentum, your input is essential. We want to hear from you.
